About TEJO (for Partners and Sponsors)

TEJO (Tutmonda Esperantista Junulara Organizo) is the World Esperanto Youth Organization. Esperanto is an international language, created by L. L. Zamenhof in 1887, designed to facilitate communication among people from different countries. Since 1938, TEJO has brought together young Esperanto speakers from around the world, with members in 97 countries. We are based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

About TEJO

We are a worldwide community

TEJO has individual members in over 90 countries (people, under 35 years old, who voluntarily become members of TEJO by paying an annual fee) and country sessions (independent youth-led organizations associated with TEJO) in over 50 countries.

Our main gathering is global

TEJO, together with its country section, has hosted the International Youth Congress (the main gathering for young Esperantists) in 34 countries, some of which were Togo, Indonesia, Spain, Cuba, Brazil, among others.

We advocate for linguistic rights

TEJO advocates at many organizations (in European and world levels), participating in dozens of events every year to advocate for linguistic rights and against discrimination of minority languages. Some of those organizations are the United Nations, European Youth Forum, and Council of Europe, among others.

We organize international events and trainings, helping young people experience a truly international atmosphere through the unique culture of Esperanto. Together with our parent organization, the Universal Esperanto Association, we also advocate against language discrimination at organizations like the United Nations and UNESCO.
